I recently found out I may need to have my upper jaw moved forward and down, and I'm nervous not only about the surgery itself, but about some of the facial changes that may occur. While I'm looking forward to my jaws being in proportion after the surgery, I'm afraid that my nose will change shape. I would appreciate it if anyone who has had upper jaw surgery could answer a few questions about his/her experience: 1. Did you notice any changes in your nose after surgery (wider, more prominent, etc.), and were these changes permanent? 2. What specific type of upper jaw surgery did you have? (moved up or down, how many millimiters forward, etc.)
    Thanks,
    Melissa

i had 5 mm impaction of the upper jaw .. i was soooo woried about the nose shape change since I loved my nose and didn't want it to change .. I asked my surgeon and he said he'll try his best to keep it as it is .. after the surgery the nose got wider and more tipped but now (3 months after surgery) the swelling has gone and it is very minimally wider and a little tipped .. frankly it is even better now than before surgery! :)

Well I'm only 3 weeks post surgery so I still have a ton of swelling, but I got both upper and lower jaw surgery. My upper jaw was impacted and basically pushed higher in my face because apparently when I smiled, I had too much gum showing. Anyway, that being said about only being 3 weeks post-op, my nose doesn't look anything like it did before. It's much wider and right now a little crooked. Hpefully that'll go away.
